Dark Circle 2016 Outerwear Drop 1

Birmingham based streetwear label Dark Circle team up with photographer Tom Kennedy to showcase their 2016 outerwear offering in this simplistic lookbook.

Shot against a plain studio back drop, the lookbook allows for the clothing and styling to really take centre stage, with a solid range of easy to wear yet highly considered outerwear pieces. Keeping the colour palette fairly muted throughout with the use of natural tones, the collection is comprised of a mixture of lightweight workwear inspired jackets to slightly heavier bomber jacket styles, featuring tasteful yet playful slogans such as 'Hard to be Humble' emblazoned across the back of some pieces. The branding is kept fairly minimal throughout, while the focus is on the design, cut and fit of each garment.

Dark Circle SOONCOME

Dark Circle SS15 “SOONCOME” Capsule

Dark Circle come through with some well executed imagery to showcase another solid apparel line in their ‘SOONCOME’ Spring/Summer 2015 capsule collection.

The Birmingham based brand team up with photographers George Davis and Morgan Tedd to capture their latest offering against a scenic countryside backdrop. The release itself draws inspiration from the brands founders British/Carribean heritage, and pays homage to the various British subcultures of past decades and the influence they have had on UK street culture.

The ‘SOONCOME’ collection sees the introduction of new colour ways and fits across tees, long sleeves, crewneck sweaters and shorts. Considered cut and sew in the short sleeve embroidered ‘Dark Co.’ shirt is the highlight of the release, which is available in oxford blue and white, while a selection of flat peak and bent brim caps round off the collection. It’s another mature release from the young UK brand, and it’s refreshing to see them continue to push their English heritage through their designs.

Dark Circle SS15 “Broken Britain” Collection

Continuing an exciting week of releases from UK labels, Birmingham based Dark Circle draw from their frustrations with the current state of affairs in Britain and take inspiration from the people, places and times in which the underprivileged have been forced to react and stand up to those oppressing them, as they present the Broken Britain Collection.

With the general election looming, the theme of the drop couldn’t be more relevant. Counterculture and political messaging play a huge role in streetwear’s roots and its development, so its great to see a UK brand taking that approach to inform their design and doing it well. Their latest collection is heavily influenced by the 80’s and 90’s working class aesthetic, and it takes a fairly minimal approach towards colour and branding. As well as a selection of tees, long-sleeves and hoodies, Dark Circle continue to put a lot of emphasis on their cut and sew range, with a strong selection of shirting and light jacketing options, utilizing camo and stripe pattern, with subtle patch branding. Rounding off the release is a strong range of headwear pieces, featuring embroidered caps and buckets.

Stand out pieces for us include the Uniform Overshirt in woodland camo and olive, as well as the vintage look D Logo Polo Cap. You can shop the Dark Circle Broken Britain Collection in its entirety over at www.darkcircleclothing.com.
