Trax Couture X Footpatrol X Puma

Trax Couture x Footpatrol x Puma R698

PUMA and Footpatrol pay homage to Record Store Day as they team up with London-based underground record label Trax Couture for a collaborative rework of PUMA’s R698 silhouette.

Subject to several material and colour reworks over the years, the latest collaborative effort of the R698 is fairly toned down in comparison, applying a premium tonal black nubuck to the shoes upper with perforations from the toe box through to the heel. The popular speckled white midsole returns on top of a gum outsole, with additional features including  reflective rope laces, triple branding on the tongue label and Trinomic branding on the heel.

To align with the celebration of record store day and adding to the shoes premium feel, the pack will arrive in a matte black box with a special, silk-screened project logo, while the shoe itself features a 3D printed USB lace jewel packed with exclusive music. To round off the release, a limited edition 12″ vinyl by producer and Trax Couture record label head chief Rushmore can be picked up on the day.

With Footpatrol situated in the heart of London’s vibrant Berwick Street of Soho, surrounded by independent record stores with a rich heritage in music, the collaboration is a fitting tribute to a day that celebrates the importance of independent stores and music on physical formats.

The Trax Couture x Footpatrol X Puma “Trax Patrol Record Store Day” pack will be available in extremely limited quantities in-store at Footpatrol on Saturday the 18th of April.

Converse CONS Breakpoint[14]

Converse Cons present the Breakpoint Collection

Converse CONS have announced the launch of the Breakpoint collection, which sees the brand link up with four of Europe’s most renowned and influential footwear stores to create an exclusive pack of limited edition sneakers.

Londons Footpatrol, Amsterdam’s Patta, Berlin’s Solebox and Starcow based in Paris all apply their own unique take on the silhouette which is made up of a premium mix of materials, including nubuck, suede, nylon and a heavy cotton twill. Each design pulls inspiration from the stores surroundings and local culture, adding their own colour applications and sole constructions based on the individual stores influences. All of the styles feature Converse CONS’ iconic Star Chevron logo and dual branding on the heel tabs and insole, as well as a choice of tonal or contrasting laces. The shoes functional features aren’t lost as a lightweight cusioning is added for comfort and a padded tongue provides protection for the top of the foot.

Converse CONS have also introduced a Breakpoint Zine which will be available in each of the partner stores. The zine gives a visual representation of each stores cultural influences with 20 pages of inspirational artwork, artist submissions, musicians, photographers and filmmakers. It’s a nice touch from the brand to round off 4 solid reworks of the low profile shoe.

The Converse CONS Breakpoint collection will be available exclusively at the four locations in limited numbers from Saturday the 14th of February. The blue suede rework shown above will be available at Footpatrol London.

Footpatrol x New Balance M1500FPK ‘Encyclopaedia’

London’s premier footwear destination Footpatrol link up with New Balance on a sophisticated rework of the brands ‘Made In England’ M1500 silhouette, drawing inspiration from one of the most informative and important reference sources of our time – the Encyclopædia Britannica.

Originally released back in 1993, the M1500 silhouette is considered New Balance’s most accomplished running shoe to date. It’s form fitting design and Encap comfort technology in the midsole has seen the classic runner become a favourite with footwear fanatics across the globe. Footpatrol have done a solid job on reworking the silhouette, which is crafted entirely at the brands Flimby factory, by applying premium fabrications and colour treatments for a clean finish.

The shoes upper utilises black suede on the mudguard, wrapping around the toe box and ankle collar. Smooth tonal leather graces the side panels, toe box and tongue, while embroidered hits of gold feature on the tongue, lateral heel section and iconic ‘N’ branding. Further gold detailing can be found on the reflective piping around the ankle collar, while vibrant red detailing is used on the heel branding and a blacked out ‘N’ logo sits on the medial side of the shoe. An intentionally off white midsole and gum outsole gives off an aged effect inspired by the worn pages of the publication. The shoes inner sole takes elements from the content of the encyclopedia with an anatomical illustration of the foot printed on to it.

The Footpatrol x New Balance M1500FPK ‘Encyclopaedia’ is set to release in-store & online this Saturday the 24th January at Footpatrol.  Sizes will range from a UK6.5 to UK11 and will cost you £145.
