Nike SB GTS & Dunk Low Premium QS

Nike SB is set to drop a new premium QS pack this weekend, offering up a raw take on the popular Dunk Low and newly re-introduced GTS silhouettes. The shoes upper has been decked out with a heavy-duty, un-dyed canvas for a rugged, rustic look. With tonal lacing on the GTS and contrasting black lacing on the Dunk Low, both styles have been accented with black swoosh detailing and sits on top of a white sole unit. The shoe's hardwearing canvas will give the wearer durability and protection for increased wear, while the Zoom Air heel unit ensures optimal cushioning upon impact.

Alongside some of the brands more daring, perhaps less wearable, silhouettes that have already hit the shelves this year, it's good to see the brands continue to work with some of their classics to offer more accessible styles that will not only skate well, but look good on the foot too. The Nike SB GTS & Dunk Low Premium QS are set to drop this Saturday the 16th of April over on the brands webstore.

Nike SB Zoom GTS

Having been the subject of the hugely popular Nike SB x Supreme collaboration back in July last year, Nike's classic GTS tennis silhouette returns as part of a main line release.

The early 90's tennis shoe was reworked in to five stand out colour ways, all with original features in tact for the Supreme collab, which celebrated the shoes popularity amongst the skaters of the era. As you can expect with any Supreme drop, the collab was met with a great response and pulled the modest silhouette back in to the limelight of both skateboarders and sneaker lovers across the globe.

Looking to capitalise on the new found popularity of the GTS, Nike have released the shoe in a simplistic black/white colour option, featuring a durable canvas upper with hardwearing suede overlays on the toe and heel. Tonal lacing and a small embroidered swoosh logo on the side panels complete the simplistic look of the shoe, all of which sits on top of a contrasting white rubber outsole which features Nike's signature Zoom cushioning.

Supreme x Nike SB ‘GTS’

In a timely release, following the Wimbledon buzz of the last few weeks, Supreme lift the lid on their latest collaborative venture as they team up with Nike SB to rework the Nike GTS (Great Tennis Shoe).

The GTS was originally introduced back in 1993 as a tennis shoe from Nike’s Sportswear department, but was also promoted as an ‘off court’ shoe for the lifestyle market. Thanks to its low profile silhouette, flat chunky sole unit and accessible price point, the style was quickly adopted by skaters in the 90’s, including the likes of Guy Mariano, Pepe Martinez and Drake Jones. We haven’t seen much from the GTS over the last few years, which is surprising considering the resurgence of tennis shoe styles and the shoes rich skateboarding heritage, but in biding its time the GTS is back with a bang this season. As the collab kings have shown in the past, with the likes of the high top Vans Native American, they have a knack of bringing forgotten styles back into the limelight, and for me, this is one of their best efforts yet.

The no-frill GTS has been updated with a hard wearing, herringbone cotton canvas upper and arrives in a variety of bold colour options which include black, white, yellow, red and also a custom denim edition. Each shoe sits on a white vulcanised midsole with black piping detail, small swoosh branding on the side panels and gold embossed Supreme type on the heel. The design is kept simple, no groundbreaking technology or materials, but less is definitely more with these.

To celebrate the release, Supreme and regular collaborator William Strobeck have put together this short promo edit aptly named “Swoosh”, featuring riders Alex Olson, Kevin Bradley, Brian Anderson and Sean Pablo skating the shoes on the streets of  Paris.

The Supreme x Nike SB GTS will be available in-store at Supreme’s London location and online from Thursday July 16th.
