Footpatrol x ASICS Gel Kayano

This year has been a great year for collaborations from one of London’s top sneaker destinations and Footpatrol join forces with ASICS once again this season to offer their iteration of the Gel Kayano silhouette.

Taking cues from army surplus equipment that soldiers would traditionally use on a ‘foot patrol’, the collaborative shoe is perhaps the most suited runner for the season, arriving in a dark olive, black and khaki colour palette and packed full of winterised features.

The Gel Kayano is probably the trainer of the moment from the Asics range and Footpatrol have done a great job on the silhouette, giving careful consideration to material used and detailing throughout. Maintaining the shoes core technical features such as the skeletal logo stripes, the THETA Gel in the heel and P-Gel in the forefoot, Footpatrol have added to the shoes original tech features applying premium upgrades taken from the equipment that inspired the design.

The shoes upper is constructed from a durable water resistant smooth suede upper, with micro-perforated detailing on the toe box. The Kayano’s iconic embossed branding arrives in a reflective TPU, providing visibility, stability and a snug fit.

The Footpatrol x ASICS Gel Kayano will be available from 10 a.m on the 15th of November exclusively at www.footpatrol.co.uk

Vans Pro Skate – Crockett Pro Mid

The original skate shoe brand – Vans unveil their latest pro skate shoe in the Crockett Pro Mid.

Gilbert Crockett’s pro model has been the subject of several great reviews since it’s initial release, a shoe that is packed full of breakthrough innovations in skate footwear design. These same pro features have been translated into the mid version, giving the wearer unrivaled grip with the Wafflecup bottom unit and ultracush sole for high level impact cushioning.

Arriving in all black and pewter/white colour ways, the shoes upper is constructed from a premium suede and canvas mix on the upper, with a duracap fused rubber reinforced toe cap for durability. The addition of the added padding around the ankle provides protection and support for the wearer.

There have been many attempts over the years to produce a decent mid silhouette and many have left a lot to be desired. This model however has seemingly struck the right chord, it reminds me of a kind of slimline half cab with a side stripe. The Crockett Pro Mid is an extremely technical, skate ready shoe that still looks good on the foot. It’s available now at vans.co.uk.

PUMA Trinomic ‘Green Box’ Pack

PUMA give a bold rework to 3 key Trinomic styles this season as they present the appropriately named ‘Green Box’ Pack.

For those PUMA footwear fans out there or to anyone who has purchased a Trinomic shoe before, the particular colour of green used may seem familiar. Thats because Pantone’s ‘ Classic Green’ is the colour applied to the iconic Trinomic box and it turns out the same green works pretty well on some of your favourite PUMA silhouettes too.

Featuring up to date reworks of the Blaze of Glory, R698 and XT2+, the pack makes use of a variety of premium materials and subtle details to give a unique finish. The Blaze of Glory boasts a mesh upper with nubuck overlays, the R698 has textured nylon and mesh mix on the upper with additional green piping and last but not least the lightweight XT2+ is given a white, full grain leather formstripe. Each shoe features a contrasting crystal white midsole and white branding, with 3M hexagonal detailing and red pops on the heel.

size? x Nike – Air Huarache Light ‘Mowabb’

The last few months have seen a wave of notable collaborative releases from UK retailer size? and their latest effort, reworking the Air Huarache Light, is one of the strongest so far.

Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of Moab, Utah and the colours of the horizon, the shoes colour way replicates the hues of blue from the skyline as they meet with the burnt sand to create an intersecting orange burst. The colour treatment was originally found on the iconic ACG Mowabb release which brought the ‘Huarache to the mountains’, and the same shoe was also the pioneer of the now popular speckled midsole that can also be found on this model.

The latest iteration of the shoe features mesh on the upper which works with the neoprene sock liner for added comfort and stability, as well as suede panelling on the mudguard for durability. Additional features include the black and white speckled midsole, branding on the heel and heel tab, with the huarache logo on the tongue.

The Air Huarache Light has seen a bit of a resurgence of late, most notably as the focus of Footpatrols ‘Concrete’ release and the OG ‘Ultramarine’. In my opinion it’s one of the most understated silhouettes and when it’s done well, it can make for a great shoe, and this Autumnal rendition is an example of that.

The size? x Nike AIr Huarache Light will be available at size? from the 31st of October.
