Brixton Mens 03

Brixton Summer 2015 Lookbook

Brixton have always been a brand that we have admired, from their consistently strong visuals to their simplistic, timeless product that they continue to put out season after season, to us they are a great example of how to present a clothing brand in the right way. For Summer 2015, Brixton again deliver on all fronts with another stunning lookbook that showcases a clean collection full of ready to wear pieces and with it capturing the Brixton ‘lifestyle’ and what those who make and wear the clothing are all about.

Drawing from their Californian heritage and inspired largely by the people, the music and the culture that surrounds them, their latest release features several summer ready styles, from the subtle graphic print tees to the casual workwear inspired shirting selection that we have come to love from the brand. Board shorts and relaxed chinos make up most of the trouser offering, while their headwear pieces really stand out from the pack with several vintage inspired caps and brimmed hats. Logos and graphics are kept to a minimum, with rugged materials applied and a muted colour palette throughout giving a relaxed vibe to a quality release.

The Brixton Summer 2015 collection is available now at the following UK stores: Flatspot, Urban Industry and The Chimp Store

PUMA X ALIFE Sessions with Mobb Deep – Recap

The PUMA presents alife sessions returned to East London to launch part two of their Spring/Summer 2015 collaboration with none other than New York hip hop heavyweights Mobb Deep joining in the celebrations.

The collection itself aligns with part one of the release, utilising PUMA’s heritage in sportswear and combining alife’s unique creative approach to present a selection of vibrant footwear reworks and bold apparel pieces. Drawing inspiration from the streets of New York and the stories they tell, the classic Trinomic R698, Disc Blaze and Blaze of Glory silhouette receive new premium material applications, with the stand out R698 featuring a custom alife motif print on the midsole. The apparel offering consists of a functional two piece tracksuit and a matching short and sweater combo featuring an all over photo print of the New York brands famous piranha tanks situated in their Rivington Street Club store.

One thing we have learned from the PUMA x alife collaborations is that both brands know how to throw a party. With Reakwon representing in the previous London sessions instalment, Mobb Deep played to a packed house at The Laundry E8 and delivered what could quite be one of the best events of the year so far. Following on from energetic warm-up shows from UK based rap project Cult Mountain and impressive London native Little Simz, Mobb Deep took to the stage to deliver classics including Hell on Earth and Shook ones, with all the artists decked out in the latest attire from PUMA and alife. Livin’ Proof were on the decks all night providing the soundtrack to the evening in between sets, with drinks flowing and amazing food from the Pig & Rig, it was a good vibes all round.

Check out the photo recap from the night, as well as product shots from part 2 of the collaboration above. You can shop pieces from the PUMA x alife Spring/Summer 2015 collection at the following retailers: Urban Industry, 5Pointz and Attitude.

Grind London 'In Season'

Grind London SS15 ‘In Season’ Lookbook

Grind London offer up another visual treat for Spring/Summer 2015 as they bring the summer vibes for their latest lookbook entitled ‘In Season’.

Its been great to see the London based brand continue to make such an impact on the national and global scene in recent years. Seamlessly combining the quality of menswear design with more casual streetwear styles, they have continued to develop their range season after season. There aren’t many other UK brands that have offered the level of conviction in design or general aesthetic that Grind London have, with staple items through to more considered cut and sew pieces, their releases draw from a range of themes that embody the culturally diverse melting pot that is our capital city.

Their latest release for Spring/Summer takes inspiration from the notion of being “in”, looking past the fads and trends that were, for their moment, the “in” thing and rather to those that have achieved longevity instead of fading out. From this, Grind London have put together a collection that doesn’t adhere to the current trends of the market, but offers up something more timeless. “In Season” features several graphic focused tees, long sleeves and hoodies, alongside a strong cut and sew range consisting of patterned shirting, light-jacketing options, tailored trousers and shorts, most of which has been constructed using premium Japanese cotton. The collection is rounded off with several weather appropriate caps, featuring embroidered logo’s and corduroy.

SOON X MR PHOMER

S.O.O.N X Mr. Phomer Capsule Collection

Two of London’s finest join forces this season, as streetwear brand S.O.O.N link up with Lisbon born, London based creative Mr. Phomer for a collaborative capsule collection.

Following a chance meeting in London and a history of unknowing confrontations with each others work, the pair finally come together to produce something that is representative of both parties DIY ideologies. The release draws inspiration from ying and yang, light and day, consisting of opposing black and white, short and long-sleeved tees.  Channeling both S.O.O.N’s and Mr. Phomer’s attitudes towards working in the creative and fashion industries within the big smoke, bold graphic prints are applied to the ‘KTGP2’ tee, which is a play on the ‘Bringing Knifes to Gun Parties’ design that first brought Mr.Phomer to S.O.O.N founder Jonny’s attention, as well as the ‘All Smiles’ long sleeve. The collection reinforces Something Out Of Nothing’s self made nature, encouraging others to use their creative talents to bring their vision to life.

Enjoy the lookbook shot by London photographer Vicky Grout above and be sure to head over to www.somethingoutofnothing.co.uk to shop the capsule, which arrives in extremely limited numbers, now.

Dark Circle SS15 “Broken Britain” Collection

Continuing an exciting week of releases from UK labels, Birmingham based Dark Circle draw from their frustrations with the current state of affairs in Britain and take inspiration from the people, places and times in which the underprivileged have been forced to react and stand up to those oppressing them, as they present the Broken Britain Collection.

With the general election looming, the theme of the drop couldn’t be more relevant. Counterculture and political messaging play a huge role in streetwear’s roots and its development, so its great to see a UK brand taking that approach to inform their design and doing it well. Their latest collection is heavily influenced by the 80’s and 90’s working class aesthetic, and it takes a fairly minimal approach towards colour and branding. As well as a selection of tees, long-sleeves and hoodies, Dark Circle continue to put a lot of emphasis on their cut and sew range, with a strong selection of shirting and light jacketing options, utilizing camo and stripe pattern, with subtle patch branding. Rounding off the release is a strong range of headwear pieces, featuring embroidered caps and buckets.

Stand out pieces for us include the Uniform Overshirt in woodland camo and olive, as well as the vintage look D Logo Polo Cap. You can shop the Dark Circle Broken Britain Collection in its entirety over at www.darkcircleclothing.com.

Carhartt WIP x Vans SS15 “Hickory Stripe”

Carhartt WIP and Vans team up once again as they apply the classic Hickory Stripe fabric to two classic footwear styles and a selection of accessories for Spring/Summer 2015.

The pair continue to build on their fruitful working relationship as their latest release plays on the rich heritage of each company; applying Carhartt’s iconic stripe design to two of Vans most popular silhouettes – the Vans Chukka and the Classic Slip-On. Sticking to the summer inspired colour palette of navy, turqouise and white throughout, the stripe design of the shoes upper sits on top of a stark white sole unit, fluorescent orange lining, with contrasting lace detailing and hits of white suede on the heel of both shoes. To round off the release, there is also a heavy wearing tote bag and bucket hat adorning the classic Carhartt logo.

See the accompanying video below and be sure to head over to carhartt-wip.com to shop the collection.
