Raised By Wolves Spring/Summer 2015

Raised By Wolves unveil a selection of stripped back visuals as they preview their latest release for Spring /Summer 2015.

The clothing and visuals from the Canadian brands previous releases have been executed to the highest standards, delivering quality and highly wearable clothing with each instalment. Although this season the look book is fairly minimal compared to their previous efforts, the latest collection is brimming with character throughout, continuing to stick to the brands identifiable aesthetic.

Spring/Summer 2015 incorporates sportswear themes within ‘premium’ street ready pieces, and from what we can see from the visuals, is comprised of hoody and sweater options, baseball jersey syles and a selection of headwear, rounded off nicely with a collaborative capsule collection as they link up with Oakland based artist Brendan Moore. Most of the collection is made in Canada meaning we can expect consideration in the construction.

You can expect Raised By Wolves Spring/Summer 2015 to be arriving at UK stores including Urban Industry, KRUSOE and The Chimp Store shortly.

Billionaire Boys Club/ICE CREAM EU Flagship Store

Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream give us a glimpse into their newly launched flagship store in the heart of London’s Soho.

Following the success of the brands recent pop up ‘satellite store’ in London, their latest venture encompasses 800 square feet split over 2 levels, the first permanent space for the brand inside Europe. It was about time London had its own BBC/ICE CREAM location following the opening of the NY store back in 2007 and the Japan store more recently in 2012. Each brand has and continues to play an integral part in shaping the UK street wear scene and its only right that they celebrate that with a physical location.

The interior of the store is pretty outstanding and has been specifically designed to reflect each brands story. The space is split into 2 concepts, the first a ‘Starfield’ pattern that has become synonymous with BBC’s ‘galaxy’ aesthetic and its iconic astronaut logo, while the second half takes it back a few years with a 50’s taking the form of a vintage Ice Cream parlour.

The London flagship will also hold the latest collections from both brands as well as Billionaire Boys Club exclusive ‘LDN’ tees and caps to celebrate the store opening. The store will also see a range of EU exclusive products as well as exclusive Pharrell Williams product that includes his recent collaborative ventures with Adidas and Commes Des Garcon and the the limited edition ‘This Is Not A Toy’ book by John Wee Tom.

MN07 Spring/Summer 2015 ‘The Hippy Apocalypse’

MN07 present their Spring/Summer 2015 collection entitled ‘The Hippy Apocalypse’ and accompanying lookbook.

MN07 is a sub label of Seattle based Maiden Noir which was founded by Nin Truong as a creative venture under his WKND label. Maiden Noir’s journey started with a selection of pieces based on a mythical story line with each collection designed to continue the story. The brand grew and strengthened with their refined military aesthetic, tailored fits and considered material applications. Troung’s latest venture takes more of a contemporary twist on street wear design, drawing influence from and exploring different subcultures in their designs, and despite still holding some values that Maiden Noir holds true, the brand is certainly an identity of its own.

For Spring 2015, MN07 delivers relaxed, graphic lead styles that draw influence from 70’s Detroit art anti-rock band Destroy All Monster and there movement away from the free spirited hippie haze, hence the name of the collection “The Hippie Apocalypse”. The release is captured in this minimal lookbook that really puts the focus on the clothing and compliments the collections strict colour palette of black, grey and white, with pops of red and olive. As with Maiden Noir, a majority of the line will be produced in the US so we can expect the same levels of quality in both material and fit for MN07.

MN07 Spring/Summer 2015 ‘The Hippy Apocalypse’ collection is available now at Urban Industry and Krusoe.

HUF Spring 2015 Delivery 2 Lookbook

HUF hit the racecourse to showcase their latest offering from their Spring 2015 collection, as photographer Brian Kelley follows models Thadius Williams, Justin Owens, Danny Salgado and Patrick Franklin as they try their luck on the horses.

The latest release continues to place a high importance on construction and material, brining us gently into the warmer weather with several Californian inspired styles and prints. There is of course the staples but there is much more of a focus on cut and sew pieces including light weight jackets and short sleeved shirts, with several key pant styles from their ever improving line. With key pieces that include the Classic H baseball jacket, white embroidered baseball jersey and Tropicana short sleeved shirt, the collection also features a bevy of new headwear releases and also key footwear styles that compliment the apparel offerings. Utilising several custom print stories throughout including dots and bandana pattern, the colour palette is fairly subtle using lots of white, blues and sand colours.

The Quiet Life Spring 2015 “56th & FIG” Collection

The Quiet Life lift the lid on their latest collection for Spring 2015 and their accompanying lookbook entitled “56th & Fig”.

The lookbook gets its name from the intersection of 56th Avenue and Figueroa Street in the Highland Park district of Los Angeles. This season The Quiet Life have enlisted the services of Dan Monick to produce these minimal visuals which compliment the clean, street ready designs that its showcasing. The collection is lead by several lightweight jacket options including coach jacket and quilted gilet styles, a series of wardrobe staples that we have come to expect from the brand including button-up shirts, long sleeves, hoodies and sweaters, as well as a healthy selection of headwear and several small capsules within the main line release including the Eden pack, Hawaiian pack and another instalment of the on going Camera Club collection. A range of cut and sew, colour blocking and pattern techniques have been applied to add some texture to the release.

We’ve seen a lot of what would be considered the ‘core’ streetwear brands out there continue to develop their ranges and take more of a focus in to cut and sew with more considered graphic pieces. Spring 2015 sees possibly Quiet Life’s most mature selection to date with vibrant hits in all the right places, keeping it simple where they need to. It’s great to see the brand move with the times while still remaining true their roots.

The Quiet Life Spring 2015 collection is available now at Urban Industry and 5Pointz

Streetx x Manface Capsule Collection

Perth-based StreetX have emerged as one of the most exciting brands to come out of Australia of late, having quickly developed and established their own clothing line through their online store and physical location, collaborations with the likes of Sly Guild and aNYthing has solidified their place in the global market. Following up a largely successful year for the brand in 2014, the Australian outfit now link up with LA based tattoo artist Manface on a collaborative capsule collection for Spring 2015.

Manface has gained serious recognition following his work with the likes of Odd Future and Trash Talk, which traditionally incorporates LA iconography mixed with dark imagery, and this follows through in his latest venture. You can see creative direction from both parties played a role in the capsule, drawing inspiration from each of their surrounding locations of LA and Perth, however its Manface’s unique graphics that take centre stage across an array of long and short sleeved tees, along with one-off hand etched accessories including dog tags and zippo lighters.

Palace Spring/Summer 2015

In one of the most highly anticipated drops of the season, Palace give us a glimpse of what to expect from their Spring/Summer 2015 collection, which also sees the brand re-launch their website for the release.

I’m sure the internet will be going into meltdown when the collection launches tomorrow (Friday 13th of March), although this is mainly down to the hype around the brand, the Spring/Summer release further reiterates why Palace have got to where they are today and is a solid representation of the brands growth. Focusing in on more technical outerwear pieces, the Spring/Summer 2015 collection sees Palace step away from their more graphic based staples and rather concentrates on providing more considered, functional garments that serve for skating just as well as for ‘hitting the pub with your mates’. It’s a far cry from the brands initial t-shirt line, but from its humble beginnings up until now, the brand has continued to maintain their recognisable style.

There is a great mix of outerwear, from lightweight nylon windbreakers to more heavyweight wool bombers, all of which are 100% British made and give consideration to the British ‘summer’. From what we can see from the visuals, the collection is rounded off with some strong graphic based long-sleeves and headwear options, from 5-panels to beanies.

Off the back of their nostalgic sportswear release with Adidas the last year, in which we were beginning to see glimmers of how the brand was planning to develop, we see Palace really step up operations not only through the clothing they produce but as a clothing company. Known for their experimental graphic pieces, they have successfully channeled their creativity into new ventures, in particular cut and sew, offering high quality clothing with a large sportswear influence. As a UK based site its inspiring to see a London skate brand grow and be recognised and widely respected worldwide, simply by doing something they love and supporting those around them. Their latest release continues to bring the brands unique aesthetic that encapsulates British style and fuses it with UK skate influence.

The Palace Spring/Summer 2015 release will be available from the brands web store – palaceskateboards.com, from Friday the 13th of March.
