Vans Pro Skate – Crockett Pro Mid

The original skate shoe brand – Vans unveil their latest pro skate shoe in the Crockett Pro Mid.

Gilbert Crockett’s pro model has been the subject of several great reviews since it’s initial release, a shoe that is packed full of breakthrough innovations in skate footwear design. These same pro features have been translated into the mid version, giving the wearer unrivaled grip with the Wafflecup bottom unit and ultracush sole for high level impact cushioning.

Arriving in all black and pewter/white colour ways, the shoes upper is constructed from a premium suede and canvas mix on the upper, with a duracap fused rubber reinforced toe cap for durability. The addition of the added padding around the ankle provides protection and support for the wearer.

There have been many attempts over the years to produce a decent mid silhouette and many have left a lot to be desired. This model however has seemingly struck the right chord, it reminds me of a kind of slimline half cab with a side stripe. The Crockett Pro Mid is an extremely technical, skate ready shoe that still looks good on the foot. It’s available now at vans.co.uk.

Vans – The Sidestripe Capsule

The iconic sidestripe has come a long way since it was first introduced back in 1977. This Autumn/Winter Vans celebrate the sidestripe with an exclusive t-shirt capsule collection.

Having began it’s life as a mere doodle from Vans founder Paul Van Doren, the globally recognised symbol first appeared on the Vans Old Skool design and has since made it’s way on to several of Vans most loved silhouettes. The capsule collection consists of four t-shirt designs in black, white and navy colour ways, as well as a raglan tee with a black body and white sleeves. Each design displays the sidestripe in different ways including a bold graphic print, pocket designs, as well as making use of Vans equally iconic checkerboard pattern.

The Vans Sidestripe Capsule Collection is available now at select retailers and vans.co.uk.

House of Vans Launch Party

lbf_3050

Thursday the 8th of August saw the official launch of London’s very own House Of Vans, something that the skateboarding and local community have been excited about since rumours began. Vans took the opportunity to showcase the impressive 3,000 square-foot music venue, cinema, gallery, cafe and of course skate-park.

With the ribbon cut by Steve Van Doren himself, the day began with a quick tour of the venue covering everything from the ‘Scissors and Glue’ exhibition to the Vans Labs studio’s, open for residencies and workshops. Following a quick skate, the Vans team, that include some of the most notable names in skateboarding, surf, snowboarding and BMX, headed out for a boat ride around the Thames.

As the day drew to a close, the venue filled and the Vans team returned for more skating. The celebrations continued with a solid line up of music, with Hip-Hop legends Public Enemy headlining with support from Roots Manuva, Dinosaur JR, Toddla T and more, showing the diverse range of musical subcultures that Vans attracts.

We were walking around star struck for most of the evening, bumping shoulders with the likes of Tony Alva, Geoff Rowley and Christian Hosoi to name but a few. With drinks and food on tap and a good vibe all round, Vans certainly know how to throw a party. Launch event aside, it has to be said that the House of Vans is a great use of space and the perfect venue to bring a community together.

House Of Vans London is open now, free always to the public. You can head over to the official site to book yourself a skate session, check out upcoming gigs, see whats going on in the galleries and find out any more information you may need.
