adidas Originals x Spezial Autumn/Winter 2014

Following the success of the ‘SPEZIAL’ gallery exhibition held in London back in 2013, 3-stripe devotee Gary Aspden now turns his attention to an archive inspired capsule collection for Autumn/Winter 2014.

The ‘SPEZIAL’ exhibition was curated to celebrate adidas through the brands collectors and fans, and that name has since carried to represent the very essence of the brand to its followers. This season, the adidas Originals ‘SPEZIAL’ capsule release continues the brands dedication to those passionate towards the brand as they draw from their rich history in sportswear and lifestyle, combining the two to deliver a collection that symbolises adidas’ unique personality in design.

The collection includes 12 classic apparel silhouettes which have all been given a contemporary update using more premium cuts and fabrics. Stand out pieces include the technical Olive Coach Jacket and the iconic Beckenbauer tracksuit, each re-worked for modern day.

Gary Aspden who designed and curated the collection summed up the release;

“adidas Originals x SPEZIAL takes work that was already done by genius German designers and changes the context… re-presenting it as something contemporary.”

The adidas Originals x SPEZIAL capsule collection is available in limited numbers at www.oki-ni.com.

The Hundreds x Grizzly Griptape Capsule Collection

The Hundreds and Grizzly Griptape lift the lid on a capsule collection born out of friendship, appreciation and respect.

There’s a rich history between the two brands, with Scotty Litel of The Hundreds hailing Grizzly’s Sean and Torey as two huge influences behind the brands growth over the years. The collection is a fitting celebration of the brands unity, featuring a range of heavy graphic tees, hoodies and sweaters combining the two brands aesthetics.

Scotty Litel had this to say on the release;

“The basis of this collaboration is friendship. I’ve known both Sean and Torey for a long time and they’ve been a big part of our growth at The Hundreds. Sean helped us move into Rosewood when it was our office. Torey, I’ve known and skated with since we were kids. We’ve all watched each other grow. It was just about finding the right opportunity and the right time, and it happened organically. I think this collab is a good representation of both our brand’s stories and aesthetic. Born out of friendship, appreciation, and respect…”

The Hundreds x Grizzly Griptape Capsule Collection will be available in the UK from November at the following stockist;

size? x Nike – Air Huarache Light ‘Mowabb’

The last few months have seen a wave of notable collaborative releases from UK retailer size? and their latest effort, reworking the Air Huarache Light, is one of the strongest so far.

Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of Moab, Utah and the colours of the horizon, the shoes colour way replicates the hues of blue from the skyline as they meet with the burnt sand to create an intersecting orange burst. The colour treatment was originally found on the iconic ACG Mowabb release which brought the ‘Huarache to the mountains’, and the same shoe was also the pioneer of the now popular speckled midsole that can also be found on this model.

The latest iteration of the shoe features mesh on the upper which works with the neoprene sock liner for added comfort and stability, as well as suede panelling on the mudguard for durability. Additional features include the black and white speckled midsole, branding on the heel and heel tab, with the huarache logo on the tongue.

The Air Huarache Light has seen a bit of a resurgence of late, most notably as the focus of Footpatrols ‘Concrete’ release and the OG ‘Ultramarine’. In my opinion it’s one of the most understated silhouettes and when it’s done well, it can make for a great shoe, and this Autumnal rendition is an example of that.

The size? x Nike AIr Huarache Light will be available at size? from the 31st of October.

size? x Reebok ‘Black Winter’ Pack

Following a string of notable collaborative releases, master collaborators – size? link up with Reebok once again to give their renditions of the GL 6000 and Workout Plus in their ‘Black Winter’ Pack.

As the name suggests, the two silhouettes are reworked using an all black colour treatment and constructed out of winter ready materials. The Workout WW arrives with a heavy duty black waxed leather upper for durability against the harsh conditions, whilst the GL 6000 features a robust black ballistic mesh and suede mix sitting on top of a contrasting white midsole. Both shapes make use of the popular 3M reflective material on the details and branding, whilst each shape comes complete with additional teal coloured lace options for customisation.

The pack delivers two sleek silhouettes with high levels of functionality. Two shapes that are ready to deal with anything that the winter months has to throw at them, whilst still maintaining their street ready style.

Limited to only 500 pairs, the size? x Reebok ‘Black Winter’ Pack will be available exclusively at size? from 8:00am on the 17th of October (Friday).

Palace Skateboards x adidas Originals Collection

After days of rumours and sneak peeks, we can finally unveil the full details of the highly anticipated adidas Originals x Palace Skateboard collaboration with this fitting lookbook from our friends over at END. Clothing.

London based Palace skateboards have played a huge part within British skate culture and have been at the forefront of innovative skate design in both soft and hard goods. In a collection that references themes from 90’s British culture, a time of trackies, football shirts and loud sweaters, Palace rework some of the nations favourite designs from adidas. Keeping the branding minimal and applying a large selection of retro graphics, the collection features both sports and street wear designs with outerwear pieces, tracksuit bottoms and headwear offerings. The collections attention to detail is certainly something to admire as each piece successfully brings the gritty aesthetic of the 90’s back to life. Our key picks from the collection include the Stripe Crew Sweat in white and Team Away top.

The adidas Originals X Palace Skateboards collection will be available from the 27th of September online at www.endclothing.co.uk

END. X Wood Wood Capsule Collection

Following previews that emerged earlier this week, we can now offer a closer look into the END. X Wood Wood Capsule Collection.

Celebrating the stores 10 year anniversary and their longstanding friendship with the Danish menswear brand, the duo look to the often ignored yet powerful ‘X’ symbol that brings many together in collaborative efforts. Brian SS Jensen of Wood Wood had this to say on the release:

“We have been working with END. since the beginning, and they have always been very supportive of our brand. Both companies have grown and evolved over the years, but we still maintain a strong relationship and we were happy to contribute to the 10-year anniversary celebrations.
