Stussy Summer 2015

Stussy Summer 2015 ‘Soccer Jersey’s’

Following the success of last years NTRNTNL collection, Stussy have continued to develop their fusion of streetwear and football as they present the Team Stussy Jersey as part of their Summer 2015 collection.

Last years World Cup saw a spate of football inspired designs from several streetwear brands in celebration of the event, including Stussy who utilised some of their classic graphics and combined them with themes from on and off the pitch. Elaborating further on the idea, Stussy offer up 3 kits in black, white and blue colour ways, which include matching shorts for each top. The retro inspired jerseys arrive in long sleeve and have been constructed from a shiny polyester, reworking the USA national football teams logo which has been embroidered into the chest. Further details include Stussy sponsorship, small gold branding on the front, elasticated cuffs and a large 35 on the back to celebrate the brands 35th year anniversary.

I personally feel as though the whole football jersey thing has been a bit played out over the past year or so, with every other brand seemingly jumping on the band wagon to produce their own iteration of a famous jersey. Although this Stussy release isn’t too far from what I’ve seen before, there was something that stood out to me about the design that set it apart. Stussy have put huge attention into the detail, from the collars, the material and techniques in the design, giving each piece a really authentic retro feel. A welcome addition to my summer wardrobe for sure.

You can pick up the Stussy Soccer Jersey’s at both Urban Industry and Flatspot now.

The Hundreds and adidas join forces once again, this time on a collaborative project that combines themes from both football and skateboarding entitled the ‘Crush’ pack.

The collection celebrates both Bobby and Ben’s love for the beautiful game and the valuable life lessons the sport taught them. It also infuses elements from skateboarding and the inspiration they took from the contrasting independent culture. The release consists of a performance inspired CLIMALITE long sleeve tee and short sleeved jacquard print jersey, as well as a complimenting 5 panel and CLIMALITE football socks. Rounding off the collection is a custom pair of AdiEase, which features stitching on the toe area and tongue inspired by the classic football boot. The colour palette draws from Bobby’s youth football team and includes deep navy, vibrant orange hits and white, which is used applied throughout the concise collection.

Nike SB presents: “Brotherhood of the feet: Europe V Brazil – Friendly”

Kyron_crooksoverthehip_01_copy_large

The four year wait is over and the World Cup is well underway, with some of Europe’s best teams making early exits and Brazil making steady progress. Prior to the start of the tournament, Nike SB provided a slightly different playing field for the nations involved, as some of the biggest names in skating come together at the worlds epicentre of passionate football culture.

With the two sports tough on both body and mind, in particular the foot, Nike SB celebrate this ‘brotherhood’ cruising through the streets of Brazil. As the stadiums fill, the streets empty and with it comes a special atmosphere making Rio and Sao Paulo some of the most exciting skateboarding cities in the world.

European riders – Wieger van Wageningen, Denny Pham, Maxime Geronzi, Dani Lebron and Kyron Davis linked up with their Brazilian brethren Luan Oliveira and Fabio Cristiano, to produce a short film that follows their journey through the streets of the two unique cities.
