Dark Circle 2016 Outerwear Drop 1

Birmingham based streetwear label Dark Circle team up with photographer Tom Kennedy to showcase their 2016 outerwear offering in this simplistic lookbook.

Shot against a plain studio back drop, the lookbook allows for the clothing and styling to really take centre stage, with a solid range of easy to wear yet highly considered outerwear pieces. Keeping the colour palette fairly muted throughout with the use of natural tones, the collection is comprised of a mixture of lightweight workwear inspired jackets to slightly heavier bomber jacket styles, featuring tasteful yet playful slogans such as 'Hard to be Humble' emblazoned across the back of some pieces. The branding is kept fairly minimal throughout, while the focus is on the design, cut and fit of each garment.

Both Vans and The North Face are companies that hold a rich heritage, both specialists in their own field that are renowned for their innovation and their creative expression, so when a collaboration like this comes about you know it’s going to be well thought through and well executed. The Vault by Vans MTE range already boasts some solid winterised footwear styles, but twin that with The North Face’s knowledge in highly functional outerwear design and each style has been enhanced tenfold.

The upper boasts several technical features including water-repellant leather and suede uppers, as well as gusseted tongues to stop any unwanted weather getting through. Both shoes are lined with DRI-LEX® materials, and sit on top of considered sole units, constructed with reversed waffle lug soles for increase traction and a winterGRIP® tacky rubber which is designed to remain soft through freezing conditions, ensuring stability on icy surfaces. Each style is available in three subtle colour options, with nice added touches in the embossed TNF heel strikes, Vans ‘Off the Wall’ heel scab markers and co-branded footbed logos on each pair which complete the look.  To accompany the footwear line, The North Face ‘Nuptse’ jacket has been given a collaborative update, maintaining all the qualities that have made the jacket so popular such as it’s water-repellant coating, insulated lining and double-layered in taffeta padding, but updated with a new checkerboard print that pays homage to Vans’ iconic print and arriving in a stealthy black-on-black colour treatment.

Urban Industry x Penfield ’10th Anniversary’ Pac Mac Jacket

This week saw the release of the limited edition ‘Pac Mac’ Jacket from UK streetwear establishment Urban Industry and New England based outerwear brand Penfield, celebrating 10 years of working together.

The Pac Mac jacket is one of Penfield’s key styles, hugely popular throughout the 90’s when it was donned by various high profile musicians, the jacket has seen a bit of a resurgence lately thanks to the popularity of quarter zip pullovers. Using the jackets original construction as a base, Urban Industry have applied one of the strongest colour ways to the Pac Mac that we have seen, with black colour blocking on the arms meeting with a crisp white on the body, inspired by the contrasting chalky white cliffs and black pebble beaches which surround the stores native Eastbourne. The lightweight jacket features bold dual branded logo graphics on the arm to mark the 10th anniversary release, with a subtle woven Penfield logo on the kangaroo pouch pocket. Additional features include an adjustable hem, waist and hood, with elasticated cuffs to offer further protect you from the weather. For added practicality, the jacket can be packed away in to the velcro kangaroo pouch pocket making it easy to carry around when not needed.

Check out the visuals that we put together for the release above, shot against the chalky cliffs of Birling Gap.  The Urban Industry x Penfield ’10th Anniversary’ Pac Mac Jacket is available now in extremely limited numbers exclusively at Urban Industry.
