PUMA Winter 2014 – States ‘Gum’ Pack

Following the silhouette’s long-anticipated re-introduction at the beginning of the year, the low-profile PUMA States receives its latest rework for Winter 2014, in the ‘Gum’ Pack.

PUMA’s resurgence of late has been fronted by it’s innovative Trinomic technoogy, but the States (or ‘Clyde’ or ‘Suede’ as its also known) is one of the brands most notable re-issues of the year. A timeless classic, the shoes rich history in New York subcultures including hip-hop and the cities unique skate scene, earned it it’s name ‘States’ once the culture had been embraced over in the UK.

The latest iteration of the States sees the shoe’s premium suede upper given three winterised colour treatments – black, red and olive, sitting on top of a gum outsole. Additional features include a plush rich leather interior lining, as well as thin tonal lace and fat tonal lace options for customisation. The Olive colour option is our pick of the pack, in one of the nicest uses of the colour we’ve seen, complimented by the gum sole, you find an easy to wear, staple shoe.

The Hundreds Winter 2014 Collection

The Hundreds head to Anchorage, Alaska with photographer Jovell Rennie to showcase their latest offering for Winter 2014 in this impressive look book set in the great outdoors.

Looking back at the brands history in flying the flag for independent counter culture, this seasons offerings channel riots, rebellion and unrest as it’s main inspirations. Stepping away from their usual vibrant tones, the subdued colour palette gives a more mature approach in a line that embodies ‘mobility, progression and protection’ across a range of staple winter items.

Comprising of mostly robust outerwear pieces, the collection includes pullover sweaters, flannel button-down shirts, quilted body warmers, two-tone jackets and cargo pants. Keeping logos and graphics to a minimum, the use of camo print throughout to the collection is a nod to the brands appreciation towards militant subcultures.

Bobby Hundreds had this to say on the release:

One of the clearest ways of defining who you are is by fighting against what you are not. The Hundreds was established as a response – to convention, to rules, and industry paradigms.  As a couple of kids who built something out of nothing, we’ve proudly bore the flag of the independents and the counterculture.  We’ve sought revolution – a new philosophy for how clothing should be understood, brands experienced, and companies built.  The Hundreds Winter 2014 is inspired by this history.  The season considers the uniform of radical thinkers and progressive activists. It acknowledges the fashion aesthetic of social change from punk to politics to protests. You know what you stand for. This is what you’ll stand in.”

Enjoy the lookbook below shot against a stunning Alaskan backdrop by Jovell Rennie. The Hundreds Winter 2014 collection will be available in UK stores soon so be sure to check back for links. For more information visit thehundreds.com

Nike present The Holiday Sneakerboot Collection 2014

Nike take cues from humans ability to adapt to change in their latest release for Autumn/Winter 2014, as they introduce new adaptations of classic styles in the ‘Sneakerboot’ Collection.

With the weather deteriorating and the UK population reaching for their winter wardrobe, the time is right to be considering footwear options and Nike have seemingly  come up with a solution. Traditionally I prefer a slightly slimmer shape when it comes to footwear, so I’m not 100% sure if these are for me, but I do admire Nikes commitment towards innovation and forward thinking performance design.

Reworking iconic running and basketball silhouettes into ‘weatherised powerhouses’, the Sneakerboots design provides a trio of benefits – warmth, visibility and dryness. The shoes original outsoles remain to ensure the same levels of comfort are achieved, whilst internal linings give your feet that extra layer to fight the cold. Additional features include water resistant properties with each pair constructed from a mixture of premium materials.

The pick of the pack has to be the Air Max 90 Sneakerboot, which maintains its iconic shape with added features in the highly visible, highly durable upper, the classic Air bubble for extra cushioning and waffle patterned rubber outsole for extra traction. The release also includes Sneakerboot renditions of the Lunar Force 1, Air Max 1, Roshe Run Hi, Lunar Fresh, LunarElite Sky Hi, Air Trainer SC and the Dunk Sky Hi, arriving in Autumnal colour treatments. We will let you make up your mind on these, but one things for sure… if you’re looking for a warm, dry and comfortable shoe for the winter months, the Sneakerboots are for you.

The Holiday ’14 Nike Sneakerboots will be available at select Nike Sportswear retailers and online at nike.com from October 15th.
