Brain Dead AW15 ‘Drop 3’ Lookbook

Brain Dead have released the latest set of visuals to showcase offerings from their ‘Drop 3’ release this season.

Described as a ‘creative collective of artists and designers from around the world’, Brain Dead are one of very few brands on the market who are really carving out a unique identity, at the very forefront of the graphic t-shirt movement of late, in which we are seeing more and more smaller brands emerge. Citing inspirations from the worlds of post punk, skateboarding, comics and the rebellious spirit of subcultures as a whole, Brain Dead keep it simple with the silhouettes but their strengths lie in the bold designs they produce. Drop 3 consists of tees, caps and tote bag’s all bearing the brands vibrant and distinctive designs, drawing from the aesthetic of a typical American motel.

Parra launches Homeware Line

Popular Dutch street artist Parra has stepped in to the world of homeware with an array of clean designs.

Aside from his art, Parra has cracked the streetwear and skateboarding markets with his ‘By Parra’ and ‘Tired Skateboards’ ventures, and having tried his hand at various lifestyle pieces in the past, it is now time for Parra to apply his surreal curvy post-pop imagery to a selection of practical and decorative homeware goods. The line is a natural extension of the Parra’s clothing designs, consisting of tea towels, sofa throws, table cloths, cushion covers and door mats, all of which emblazoned with his iconic artwork. Fan favourites from previous projects including the ““Vaso di Culo” vase and the “Sleep Deprived” carpet also make an appearance in a collection which is high in quality with all pieces constructed in Europe. The tea-towels have been made by the Dutch Textile Museum and various other pieces have been manufactured by one of Belgium’s oldest weaving mills. Keeping the designs subtle throughout, and sticking to light grey’s, red, off-white and black, it’s a homeware collection that would work with most homes interior colour schemes.

Head over to byparra.com for more information and to shop the full homeware line.

Vans Syndicate x Andy Kessler Sk8-Hi Reissue NYC “S”

In celebrating 10 years of the Vans Syndicate project, this season sees the reissue of the SK8- Hi NYC “S” silhouette inspired by New York skateboarding icon Andy Kessler.

A true pioneer of NY’s skateboarding scene throughout the 70’s and 80’s and famed as the original founder of skateboard crew Zoo York, which grew to become on of the most notable skate brand’s from the city, the late Andy Kessler was a hugely influential figure in both skateboarding and amongst various communities in the Big Apple. Back in 2010, Vans released the NYC “S” silhouette, paying homage to Kessler and his legacy, and now as the 3rd instalment of Syndicate’s 10th year celebrations, it was only right reissue one of the projects most defining shoes.

The latest iteration of the Vans Syndicate Sk8-Hi Reissue NYC “S” sticks closely to the OG, applying a mixture of premium leather and perforated nubuck to the shoes black upper, which also features the bright blue shoelaces Kessler personalised all his Sk8-Hi’s with and contrasting white sidestripe branding.  Technical upgrades include the ‘Outlast’ temperature management in the shoe lining, while comfort and cushioning is achieved through the memory foam padding and Ultracush HD moulded footbed in the sole unit. Additional detailing includes a blacked out ‘Vans Off The Wall’ woven tongue label and custom ‘NYC – New York City Skateboarding’ heel tab, which is a nod to the old NYC subway tokens of Andy’s childhood.
