_EASTERN MANNER SOUTHWEST SERIES COVER_

Introducing: Eastern Manner ‘Southwest’ Series

Hailing from New York City, new brand Eastern Manner have released their inaugural collection of skate decks with their ‘Southwest’ series.

Eastern Manner look to bring their own unique approach to the skateboarding industry, drawing inspiration from their alluring surroundings and translating that into simplistic, quality hardware pieces. Focusing on exotic and local woods in the construction of each board, the aim is to combine carefully selected materials and visually pleasing aesthetics in their design, with all decks made in the USA.

The ‘Southwest’ series takes cues from Native American culture and the scenic landscapes of the southwestern regions. They have sourced native woods from the area such as Ash Burl, Western Maple and American Plane to use in the construction of each of the boards, all of which have been finished with an Arizona sourced turquoise and clay mix for their signature logo branding. All the decks have been designed and crafted by Eastern Manner, all handmade in the USA and are available in limited quantities.

With each deck sold 2% of the sale will be donated to the ‘1% For The Planet Organisation’ that helps benefit and preserve our forests and oceans, so not only are you buying from a brand that cares about their craft, but also giving to a good cause. Currently, Eastern Manner is only available via their website, but hopefully we will see them make their way over to this side of the pond in the near future. Butter Goods Spring 2015

Butter Goods Spring 2015 Lookbook

Perth’s Butter Goods deliver another solid range of skate ready staples for their Spring 2015 offering, captured in this accompanying lookbook by Garth Mariano, James Whineray and Jay Dymock, which sees the crew hanging out on the streets of their home town.

The brand has been one of the stand out imports from Australia for us over the past few years, with their instantly recognisable, lo-fi aesthetic and regressive visuals, they have managed to differentiate themselves from the pack. This seasons release sticks largely to the brands signature look with gritty designs across bold staple pieces, the collection is made up of graphic based tees, long sleeves and light functional outerwear, as well as colour blocked rugby shirts which have been a key feature in previous releases, and a healthy selection of caps and beanies.

The Butter Goods Spring 2015 collection is available now at Fifty Fifty Store, Scene Preston and in store at Brighton’s Select Store

Dark Circle SOONCOME

Dark Circle SS15 “SOONCOME” Capsule

Dark Circle come through with some well executed imagery to showcase another solid apparel line in their ‘SOONCOME’ Spring/Summer 2015 capsule collection.

The Birmingham based brand team up with photographers George Davis and Morgan Tedd to capture their latest offering against a scenic countryside backdrop. The release itself draws inspiration from the brands founders British/Carribean heritage, and pays homage to the various British subcultures of past decades and the influence they have had on UK street culture.

The ‘SOONCOME’ collection sees the introduction of new colour ways and fits across tees, long sleeves, crewneck sweaters and shorts. Considered cut and sew in the short sleeve embroidered ‘Dark Co.’ shirt is the highlight of the release, which is available in oxford blue and white, while a selection of flat peak and bent brim caps round off the collection. It’s another mature release from the young UK brand, and it’s refreshing to see them continue to push their English heritage through their designs.

Vans x Gosha Rubchinskiy Sk8-Hi

Gosha Rubchinskiy adds his own unique twist to another iconic Vans silhouette, as the two parties continue their ongoing partnership to rework the Sk8-Hi.

Having already put out the Russian designers take on the Old Skool and Slip on earlier this year, their latest project sees a new adaptation of the Sk8-Hi, which arrives in 3 colour options and features skate ready material upgrades, while remaining true to the shoes instantly recognisable shape. A hard wearing suede graces the upper, which also features contrasting stitching on the heel and ankle padding, which continues through to the side stripe branding. The vulcanised sole unit sees contrasting rubber reinforcements applied around the toe for added protection and durability.

To commemorate the release, Rubchinskiy has applied his creative direction towards a short 2 minute clip directed by Julian Klincewicz. The film highlights the way in which the youth of today can use subcultures such as skateboarding to unite people with contrasting backgrounds, in this case – people of Russia and the USA. Watch the full video below.

The Vans x Gosha Ruchinskiy Sk8-Hi are available now, in all 3 colour options, over at Dover Street Market.

FPAR® Fall/Winter 2015

Tetsu Nishiyama’s FPAR have released this set of polaroid inspired visuals to showcase their latest offering for Fall/Winter 2015.

Born in 1993, FPAR (Forty Percents Against Rights) has seen a resurgence over the last few years, in particular in European markets, following the opening of their online store and their increased availability in the UK. As the brainchild of WTAPS founder Nishiyama, the popularity of the brand is unsurprising, famed for their tongue-in-cheek political messaging emblazoned across simplistic streetwear silhouettes, they draw inspiration from silk screen printing techniques and a ‘Do It Yourself’ attitude.

This seasons release sticks close to their recognisable aesthetic, developing their range with new slogan-printed tees, long sleeves and hoodies, alongside more considered styles in the embroidered oxford shirt and clean coach jackets. A small selection of headwear and heavily branded carry goods, such as tote bags and wallets, round off the release.

The FPAR® Fall/Winter 2015 collection is available now at A Number Of Names both online and in store.
