Gosha Rubchinskiy adds his own unique twist to another iconic Vans silhouette, as the two parties continue their ongoing partnership to rework the Sk8-Hi.
Having already put out the Russian designers take on the Old Skool and Slip on earlier this year, their latest project sees a new adaptation of the Sk8-Hi, which arrives in 3 colour options and features skate ready material upgrades, while remaining true to the shoes instantly recognisable shape. A hard wearing suede graces the upper, which also features contrasting stitching on the heel and ankle padding, which continues through to the side stripe branding. The vulcanised sole unit sees contrasting rubber reinforcements applied around the toe for added protection and durability.
To commemorate the release, Rubchinskiy has applied his creative direction towards a short 2 minute clip directed by Julian Klincewicz. The film highlights the way in which the youth of today can use subcultures such as skateboarding to unite people with contrasting backgrounds, in this case – people of Russia and the USA. The Vans x Gosha Ruchinskiy Sk8-Hi are available now, in all 3 colour options, over at Dover Street Market.
