KR3W Rights Refused: Charles Peterson

KR3W have linked up with revered music photographer Charles Peterson to celebrate his role in immortalising the birth of grunge in this concise capsule collection.

The Rights Refused programme hand picks artists, musician’s and craftsman who have gone against the grain, choosing to do things their own way and because of that have made an impact through their art. This season, Kr3W look to Charles Peterson, whose raw images give an honest and gritty documentation of the grunge movement that inspired a generation. It’s a sincere tale of the rebellious spirit of grunge’s leaders and followers captured through the lens of Peterson.

Following the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s untimely death, Charles Peterson opens up his archives and applies four of his most iconic images onto tees, long sleeves, vest tops and cut and sew shirts, each of which tell their own story of a moment that changed music history forever.

Rebel8 find inspiration in pastures new and incorporate themes from the ‘Golden State’  in their latest collection for Spring/Summer 2015.

The brand made the move from San Francisco to Los Angeles in March of 2013, however this season is the first in the brands 11 year history in which all elements of the collection was not entirely developed in San Fran, and rather draws from the culture of LA. It seems as though the brand has toned down on their iconic 8 logo designs, although it features subtly on selected pieces, Rebel8 have introduced new experimental graphics, bold patterns and colours to a range of graphic tees, as well as mature cut and sew offerings in the outerwear and shirting options. The Spring/Summer release takes cues from the cinema and music, that is associated with the culture of the brands new home, but still stays true to Rebel8’s iconic style that has gained them their reputation and dedicated following over the years.
