Dickies Autumn/Winter 2016 Editorial

dickies_slider_35

For our latest Editorial feature, we came together with American workwear giants Dickies, and their European department – Dickies Life, to re-imagine the brands Autumn/Winter 2016 collection.

A brand that has spent almost a century in crafting quality workwear apparel, Dickies made the seamless, perhaps inadvertent, transition in to the streetwear market thanks to it’s classic styles being adopted by and subsequently representative of various sub-cultures, most importantly skateboarding. It’s quality in design and accessible price point has seen Dickies become a staple in most wardrobes, and Dickies aknowledged this, reworking and updating their cuts and fits for the modern market but maintaining their robust workwear heritage.

This shoot aimed to celebrate the ‘basics’ and the ‘essentials’ and their integral role in our everyday wear.  Dickies have created a simplicity and a certain level of quality that allows the wearer to be creative, whether its layered up or styled individually.

Aries Arise

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH

Our latest feature centres around London based unisex brand Aries, and their latest set of graphic heavy wears.

Aries was created by Sofia Prantera & Fergus Purcell back in 2012, following spells working alongside high profile brands such as Slam City, designing for Palace, and conceiving cult labels such as Silas. Aries is the product of these experiences combined with a desire to create something that embodies their own view on ‘street wear, anti-fashion youth movements and trash culture’. In aiming to reconcile their love for the genre, Aries became a physical representation of Sofia’s inspirations and influences, using the brand as a vessel for her own unique vision. Through hands-on processes such as hand dyeing, screen printing, cutting and ripping, Aries have establish a unique and refreshing look which embraces it’s imperfections to echo styles from 90’s DIY culture and bring back that sense of rebellion that was once such an integral part of streetwear.

We aimed to highlight the eroding barriers between mens and woman fashion, showing that streetwear – whether its aimed at men or woman, can be enjoyed and worn by whoever.

Stanton Street Sports Editorial

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH

We recentley linked up with New York’s Stanton Street Sports to shoot a concise editorial focused around their latest release for Summer 2016.

Launched earlier this year, Stanton Street Sports was born as an in-house brand to ONLY NY – named after the brands New York flagship store location. Despite sharing some similarities to it’s parent brand, Stanton Street Sports has managed to carve out it’s own identity as a stand alone brand with a strong direction and solid designs. Now available in select stockists over in the UK, SSS focus on extremley limited quantities, with many of their products made as one offs, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Their latest collection for Summer is heavily graphic lead, with an early 90’s sportswear feel to it, deploying a bright, seasonal colour palette on to a range of t-shirt designs. Again we see parallels with ONLY NY through NY inspired designs which draw from themes around the city and the various subcultures within it. Rounding off the concise release is a collaborative hoody with Champion, featuring the classic collegiate font on the front as well as three hat designs, which again feel retro inspired with subtle embroidered or patchwork detailing on classic shapes.

Check out our photo set below and head to stantonstreetsports.com for more. You can pick up the latest from SSS over at Flatspot. now.

Krusoe Winter Editorial

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH

Towards the end of last year we were asked by Brighton based streetwear, menswear & lifestyle store KRUSOE to produce a short editorial for their Winter collections.

It’s been a hugely progressive year for the young store, who have managed to build on their humble beginnings and add some of the most exciting and respected brands in the market, something that is great to see in our native city. Now stocking the likes of Beinghunted, Satta, PRMTVO, Wig Wam socks and Born x Raised, which sit next to timeless brands such as Wood Wood and Dickies, the store definitely has a strong sense of direction and offers an alternative to the highly saturated shop fronts we find on the high street.

The aim of the visuals were to be relatable and to represent the general vibe around the store. We chose the relaxed surroundings of a minimal Brighton home to showcase key pieces from KRUSOE’s collections with model Ed McRae.

ONLY NY SS15 at Urban Industry – Lookbook

Only_01

Following up on our Dickies SS15 lookbook from earlier this season, we have once again worked closely with the guys at Urban Industry to produce this short editorial showcasing the latest from New York staple ONLY NY.

To us, the team at ONLY NY perfectly capture the nature of New York streetwear and represent an integral part of the cities youth culture. They draw inspiration from the landscape and their surroundings, incorporating sportswear themes to build a relaxed range of street ready clothing with quality in mind. Rather than taking the clothing away from the obvious themes, for this shoot we stuck closely to the metropolis vibe of the brand, shooting it against a city backdrop in North West London.

As for the release, ONLY NY continue to develop their range while aligning with the brands renowned aesthetic. With strong graphic pieces, a subtle colour palette and vintage sportswear informed designs, the Spring/Summer 2015 collection is another solid release from the New Yorker’s. The brands t-shirt selection in particular stands out this season, introducing new material applications and colour block treatments, giving a greater variety and more of a premium feel in places.

PASS~PORT Spring 2015 Editorial

Passport_01.1

Here in Europe we are starting to see a lot more from independent, skater-owned companies coming out of Australia that are making waves on a global scene. With a unique approach towards design, avoiding the generic graphic prints that we see from every other label, Pass~Port are a breath of fresh air in the market both in the way the company is run and the product they are pushing out. They have strong sense of direction and an idea of where they want Pass~Port to go, doing it for the love of skateboarding rather than for the profits, the brand are at the forefront of the Australian skateboarding movement.

Headed up by Brisbane born Trent Evans, Pass~Port was born out of frustration with the current market offerings. Inspired by Australia’s rich history, experiences while travelling and a tight knit group of friends, Trent has also put together a strong team of riders that have continued to push the brand forward in all aspects. For Spring 2015, the brand continue to push out strong graphic pieces that reference numerous themes, a varied range of headwear and a strong selection of cut and sew including light outerwear options and casual shirting.

Enjoy our lookbook above, highlighting our favourite pieces from the collection. You can expect Pass~Port’s latest release to be hitting UK stockists including Parlour, Slam City and KRUSOE shortly. Be sure to visit passportal.com.au for more information on the brand or to shop their current range.

Dickies SS15 at Urban Industry

Dickies_01

Working closely with Urban Industry and Dickies Europe, we have put together a selection of seasonal looks from the Dickies Spring/Summer 2015 range.

With a heritage that spans almost 100 years, Dickies were, and still are, the go to brand for high quality workwear, offering functionality, durability and comfort in their construction. Recent times have seen the brand make moves into the streetwear and skate market thanks to the increased popularity of workwear styles, as well as their durable work pants being adopted by skaters for their reasonable pricing and ability to withstand the rigours of skating.

Their latest range offers a mixture of casual and smarter options, while the work pant remains the staple piece, reworked into numerous fits to cater to different sizes and looks. From basic t-shirts and sweaters to more stand out items such as the Honolulu shirt and Cedar Key Rugby Shirt, the offering is diverse and full of essentials that have withstood the test of time.

For the visuals we aimed to highlight the variety within range, showcasing a variety of looks and working around the brands popular work pant, dressing the styles up and down. We chose to capture the collection in an urban environment, reflecting how the clothing would be worn in an everyday scenario.
