_EASTERN MANNER SOUTHWEST SERIES COVER_

Introducing: Eastern Manner ‘Southwest’ Series

Hailing from New York City, new brand Eastern Manner have released their inaugural collection of skate decks with their ‘Southwest’ series.

Eastern Manner look to bring their own unique approach to the skateboarding industry, drawing inspiration from their alluring surroundings and translating that into simplistic, quality hardware pieces. Focusing on exotic and local woods in the construction of each board, the aim is to combine carefully selected materials and visually pleasing aesthetics in their design, with all decks made in the USA.

The ‘Southwest’ series takes cues from Native American culture and the scenic landscapes of the southwestern regions. They have sourced native woods from the area such as Ash Burl, Western Maple and American Plane to use in the construction of each of the boards, all of which have been finished with an Arizona sourced turquoise and clay mix for their signature logo branding. All the decks have been designed and crafted by Eastern Manner, all handmade in the USA and are available in limited quantities.

With each deck sold 2% of the sale will be donated to the ‘1% For The Planet Organisation’ that helps benefit and preserve our forests and oceans, so not only are you buying from a brand that cares about their craft, but also giving to a good cause. Currently, Eastern Manner is only available via their website, but hopefully we will see them make their way over to this side of the pond in the near future. Head over to www.easternmanner.com for more.

MAGENTA GLEN FOX

Magenta Welcomes Glen Fox

French outfit Magenta have added Jersey born rider Glen Fox to their roster and welcome him with this introductory clip.

Glen has been part of Magenta’s set up for a few years now after brand owner Vivian Fiel first became aware of his skating following a visit to the brand back in 2011. Having lived in Bordeaux for a year now, immersing himself in the French culture with his art and continuing to develop his unique style, it seems as though Glen Fox is a bit of a no-brainer as an addition to the Magenta team. His technique brings high-speed control, improvisation and a truly original style, all of which can be found in his awesome welcome clip below.

Magenta Winter Boards Series

We will be the first to admit that we were a bit late on this one, but the latest graphic series from Magenta is definitely worth a mention on the site with some of the limited graphics still available.

Magenta’s ‘Winter Boards’ series is made up of two parts, the first from Soy Panday consisting of 7 boards, including one new shape, that feature a selection of illustrated designs inspired by sacred geometry.  The second is a special collaboration with 90’s street skateboarding legend Brian Lotti which consists of 3 boards, one being another new shape, adorning custom artwork from the man himself.

Available in extremely limited numbers, you can still pick up styles from the series over at Magenta’s online store and at stockists including Note Shop and Decade Store.

Isle Skateboards – Curiosities Series

UK skateboarding brand Isle return with a unique graphic series with a personal touch from some of their pro riders.

Their clean board designs have caught our eye in recent seasons and they continue this minimal approach in their latest release. The idea behind the graphic is simple but the preparation requires a lot of work and attention to detail. Constructing custom shelves that would work to the same dimensions of a regular board shape, they would then be filled up with items individual to each rider and photographed ready to go straight onto the deck. Featuring objects personal to Paul Shier, Nick Jensen and Sylvian Tognelli, from Coke Cans to books on Morrissey, the decks also have a set of cards within the graphic bearing each riders initials to help you distinguish between the trio.

The Isle Curiosities Series will be available shortly at isleskateboards.com

The film features Leo Valls, Jimmy Lannon and Koichiro Uehara, as well as Australian rider James Whineray, longtime friend Liu Puli and the Perth locals.

The film is shot in a mixture of VX-1000 and Super8 footage from Josh Roberts, James Whineray and Leo Valls, and also includes analog photography from Liu Puli, James Whineray, Garth Mariano and Josh Roberts, with illustrations by Soy Panday.
