Common Dust ‘Rise Against’

Australia's Common Dust have dropped a new quick strike t-shirt graphic dubbed 'Rise Against'. Known for their rebellious designs and DIY-punk aesthetic, Common Dust reference an old bumper sticker from 80's punk band, The Feederz, which Kurt Cobain made famous back in '91 when he had it stuck on his all Black Fender Stratocaster when Nirvana played at The Reading Festival.

Dickies Lookbook 1

Dickies Life AW16 Lookbook

Workwear specialist Dickies' European chapter 'Dickies Life'  have unveiled the lookbook for their latest set of wares for Autumn/Winter 2016, reworking a range of popular shapes and key pieces that have served the brand so well over recent times.

With Dickies you know you're going to get reasonable pricing, hardwearing quality and timeless style, and this continues in to AW16, with a selection of robust pieces which draw inspiration from workwear and military, translated on to street level. You can find the staple work pants, tees, hoody's and plaid shirts, alongside a variety of jacketing options from light to heavy as well as some more interesting cargo pant designs, overalls, over shirts and coach jackets. The colour palette is understated throughout, again drawing from military themes with hits of khaki and sand, bulked out with simplistic burgundy's, grey's and black.

Hippie Sex Summer 2016 Lookbook

Newly introduced Ohio based lifestyle brand Hippie Sex have dropped their latest set of visuals showcasing a new range of limited product for the Summer season. Drawing inspiration from counter culture, the unisex brand focus their designs around vintage inspired, simplistic pieces, and this continues in to their latest release. The small collection is heavily graphic based, with vintage washes and retro type's printed on to tees and embroidered on to deconstructed 6-panels. The political statement graphics and comical reworks of old cartoon characters, which are applied as bold designs throughout, give off an anarchic theme. Hopefully will be seeing more from these guys in the UK in the near future, they are definitely one of the more exciting brands to emerge out of the US in recent times who are really offering up something unique with their playful approach.

Stanton Street Sports Editorial

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH

We recentley linked up with New York’s Stanton Street Sports to shoot a concise editorial focused around their latest release for Summer 2016.

Launched earlier this year, Stanton Street Sports was born as an in-house brand to ONLY NY – named after the brands New York flagship store location. Despite sharing some similarities to it’s parent brand, Stanton Street Sports has managed to carve out it’s own identity as a stand alone brand with a strong direction and solid designs. Now available in select stockists over in the UK, SSS focus on extremley limited quantities, with many of their products made as one offs, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Their latest collection for Summer is heavily graphic lead, with an early 90’s sportswear feel to it, deploying a bright, seasonal colour palette on to a range of t-shirt designs. Again we see parallels with ONLY NY through NY inspired designs which draw from themes around the city and the various subcultures within it. Rounding off the concise release is a collaborative hoody with Champion, featuring the classic collegiate font on the front as well as three hat designs, which again feel retro inspired with subtle embroidered or patchwork detailing on classic shapes.

Check out our photo set below and head to stantonstreetsports.com for more. You can pick up the latest from SSS over at Flatspot. now.

carhartt-wip-pelago-bicycles-capsule-01

Carhartt WIP x Pelago Bicycles

Carhartt WIP have teamed up with Finnish bike engineering company Pelago on a concise collection focused around functionality, quality and style.

The idea was born during a Carhartt skate trip back in 2013 when the pair came together through one of the rider's connections to Pelago following the discovery of an abandoned bike frame which was then re-purposed as a special one off.  From that event we now have a fully considered collection centred around the carefully crafted single-speed Porteur bike in a subtle toolbox green colour way. The bike is complimented with a range of co-branded apparel which includes a tee, work jacket, cap and beanie, all featuring double-reflective labelling and waterproof coatings. Rounding off the release is another collab within the collab, teaming up with Mission Workshop one a bespoke bag design that can be worn in a messenger stye and attached to the bikes front rack during travel.

Again it seems as though Carhartt WIP have got it right with their collaborative venture, putting together a collection that offers something to seasoned bike riders down to their leisurely cyclers, and all those in between.

The Carhartt WIP x Pelago Bicycles collaborative collection is set to arrive on August 11th. Head over to www.carhartt-wip.com  for more.

Grind London Summer Graphics

Grind London build on their "Capital" SS16 release with a new instalment of graphic tees for the Summer, captured in this simplistic lookbook from Sayda Alexander. Heavily graphic lead, the concise release aligns with Grind's signature tongue-in-cheek designs with humorous slogans mixed with classic imagery of icons including Elvis and Prince Charles. The collection is rounded off with a clean white, Egyptian-cotton short sleeve shirt with subtle Grind London text logo on the front and 'woe is not me' photo print on the back.

ONLY NYC SUMMER 1

ONLY NY & The City of New York SS16 Lookbook

ONLY NY have come together with the City of New York for the second time on a collaborative release for Spring/Summer, featuring several staple designs inspired by official logo's and graphics from the Big Apple.

When I think of New York streetwear, aside from the grittier names like ALIFE, ONLY NY stand out as one who perfectly represents what the city is about, especially the more light-hearted and artistic side. The brand draws inspiration from a number of themes, from skateboarding t0 graffiti, but everything they do has an NY feel to it, from the shapes of the garments to the city logo's they have reworked in their designs. Their latest collaborative project sees them take their affiliation to New York one step further as they literally team up with the city itself on a diverse release. Comprised of tees, long-sleeves, hoodies, caps, shorts and accessories which include a skate deck, the collection is heavily graphic lead incorporating logos from various city programs such as the "NYC Parks" and “City of New York” logos.

The ONLY NY & The City of New York SS16 collection is available now over at onlyny.com
