Stutterheim Raincoats

Our friends in Scandinavia know a thing or two when it comes to outerwear, with some of the worlds leading brands emerging from the region. One brand we’ve had our eye on recently is Swedish label Stutterheim and in particular their minimal ‘Stockholm’ rain coat designs.

The brand began after founder Alex Stutterheim stumbled across one of his grandads fisherman style rain coats. Bringing back cherished memories, the coat would inspire him to go on to source materials, and take cues from the original design, reworking the classic style ready for the modern day. The ‘Stockholm’ coat is constructed from a rubberised cotton, making it both waterproof and windproof, with all seams double welded to ensure you remain protected from the elements. Despite a lack in innovative technology, the coats simplicity both in it’s construction and its aesthetic makes it an easy to wear, timeless piece. Additional features include a drawstring hood, popper buttons and holes under the armpits for ventilation.

Stutterheim’s ‘Stockholm’ coat is available now in a variety of colour’s over at www.peggsandson.com

NikeLab Presents ACG: Defining Sport Utility for the City

Following whispers of a return from the swoosh camp over the last few weeks, we can now take a closer look at the full rebirth of NikeACG as NikeLab ACG this Winter.

A true fans-favourite, the ACG department was started over 30 years ago with the focus on providing the wearer with protection and performance in all conditions. Despite the name being featured on a series of footwear releases of late, Nike ACG has been obsolete for years up until now. This Winter, ACG has returned to present a selection of apparel, footwear and accessories that combine style and function, drawing inspiration from sportswear design and the modern athlete.

Innovation is at the heart at everything Nike do, and their latest ACG release is a solid representation of that. Linking up with Berlin-based designer and Acronym co-founder, Errolson Hugh, the collection utilises his knowledge in design to hone in on construction, fit and the functionality required for everyday life.

From outerwear pieces in the 2 in1 Jacket down to the travel essentials in the Responder backpack, each item from the release considers mobility and durability, working with pioneering materials including the Dri-Fit Wool and Tech Fleece. The collection arrives in a dark colour palette, predominantly black, applying reflective logos for an easy transition between subtlety and visibility.

Also key to city living is appropriate footwear. First surfacing back in 2013, the Nike ACG LunarTerra Arktos gets a weatherised rework as part of the collection, drawing design elements from Nike’s recently released sneakerboot range. The upper is constructed from a water-repellant mesh and leather vamp to keep your feet dry, while the sticky outsole is made for maximum traction and stability. The shoe also features Nike’s Flywire technology for flexibilty, waterproof laces and thermal lining for warmth. The ACG Flyknit Trainer Chukka SFB also features with its adaptive fit and superior cushioning system. The shoe uses Defender Repellent Systems™ spray for water resistance and includes a perforated sock liner for warmth and comfort, as well as breathability.

While taking a slightly different approach to the traditional outdoor explorer, the latest wave of ACG has developed into the modern day, but still holds the values that the are close to the brand. The result is a premium collection that embodies everything Nike and continues to evolve their forward thinking approach, while looking back at their rich heritage.

The NikeLab ACG collection will be available at nike.com from the 18th of December.

Penfield x Saucony Originals “60/40″ Pack

Rounding off a great year for both brands, Boston based heavyweights Penfield and Saucony join forces to present the seasonal “60/40″ pack.

With each brand sharing a similar backstory, it was only a matter of time before this collaboration came about. The release utilizes Penfield’s expertise in robust outerwear design and Saucony’s heritage in authentic running footwear, combining both brands aesthetic to produce a shoe that is ready to tackle the rigours of both the street and trail.

The classic Shadow Original, with its simplistic design and performance features, provided the base for the collaboration and despite not overworking the silhouette, there have definitely been some considerable technical upgrades for the season.

The name “60/40″ comes from Penfield’s iconic Teflon coated 60/40 Cotton-Nylon material that has been used by the brand since it started back in 1975. The water-repellent fabric is applied to the shoes upper, while suede overlays give a durable finish. The latest iteration of the Shadow Original features a padded collar and tongue for a comfortable fit and protection for the foot, while the polyurethane midsole gives support and durability, working with Saucony’s heel cushioning system for added comfort upon impact.

Hiking references can be found throughout the design, with a hiking boot lace loop, rope style laces and mesh netting on the heel. Each shoe features dual branding on the insole and Penfields classic logo stitched to the tongue. The pack was designed to align with the aesthetic of Penfield’s current offerings, applying earthy tones such as tan, olive and a deep obsidian to the uppers, sitting on top of a pure white midsole and black outsole.

The Penfield X Saucony  “60/40″ Pack is now available in stores across the country and will be available to purchase online at the following stores from Tuesday the 2nd of December;

Sitting firmly at the top of the sock game, California based Stance link up with outdoor specialists Poler Stuff on a limited collaborative release this Autumn.

Their latest venture with Poler Stuff sees the brands creative approaches collide on three Autumnal styles for both men and women. The men’s options of ‘Furry Camo’ and ‘Cyclops’ apply Stance’s signature camo print emblazoned with Poler’s famous ‘Camp Vibes’ text and logo, with the women’s style featuring Poler’s decorative ‘Rainbow’ print.
